Kappa Chapter was founded February 14, 1920 on the campus of Butler College. Phyllis Wheatley Waters, a founder of Kappa Chapter, developed what is now the sorority's Coat of Arms. The founders of Kappa Chapter were Hazel Alexander, Murray Atkins, Selma Beck, Eugenia Dent, Ada Hoskins Wheeler, Henrietta Herod, Fannie Hyde, Joyce Thompson Stewart, Phyllis Wheatley Waters, Goldie Thompson, Mercy Woolfork, and Marie Stokes.

    Kappa Chapter Charter includes: Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis, (IUPUI), Franklin College, Marian College, and University of Indianapolis. Kappa Chapter has a tradition of providing service to the Indianapolis community by focusing on the sorority's international targets.

Some of our recent community service projects include:

Girl's Inc. - facilitate workshops at Girl's Inc. after school program
Dayspring - assist children at sheltered housing with homework
AKA Coat Day - collect coats that are donated to shelter housing
