I. Education

  The Ivy AKAdemy - The goal is to give students the reading time, support, and guidance that is necessary to enable them to read at or above grade level upon completion of their primary grades.

Presidential Freedom Scholarships - The goal is to award a minimum of one Presidential Freedom Scholarship per year by each chapter during the 2002 - 2006 administration. It is suggested that we target high school senior students.

II. The Black Family

  Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service - The goal is to celebrate the life and teachings of MLK, Jr., through service to others and encourage the community service through partnerships and other organizations.

National Family Volunteer Day - goal is to strengthen the family by promoting positive values and providing worthwhile service to communities while raising the awareness of the importance of family volunteering.

 

III. Health

  APAC - Awareness Prevention and Action on Cancer in Women
The goal of this initiative is to educate and raise the level of cancer awareness among the membership, their families, and the communities they serve. Further, this initiative is meant to communicate the importance of early detection of the disease in terms of reducing the risk.

Buckle-Up America - The goal of Buckle-Up America program is to build upon the momentum began in 1999 by continuing to engage chapters in this important health and safety initiative and focus on changing behavior to increase seat belt use among minorities.

IV. Economics

  Tax Freedom Day - The goal is to assist students, low income tax filers, and senior citizens to file their tax returns electronically at no cost.

V. The Arts

  The goal of the arts is to promote the contribution of the arts to the quality of life in our communities, to appreciate the beauty and structure of art, and acknowledge the increasing importance of art in bridging diversity in civic life.
